Herbal Exprts? Combining supplements?
I was taking l-glutathione, alpha lipoc acid, and vitamin C. The results were great on my skin. I did not get lighter as some people claim, but my skin appearance, tone, etc were so much nicer and prettier, and I received compliments.
Well I ran out and was not taking it for several months. During this time, I began takiing coconut oil supplements, which were just as great for my skin and improved my appearance also, so I decided taking them all at one time would not hurt, and I began taking all the supplements.
The results are not quite the same at all while taking them all. However, I like the results of both when taken separately, and I think they all have their benefits.
should I take the coconut oil separately from the other supplements at different times of the day? I know sometimes the benefits are decreased by taking some supplements together at the same time, and it is recommended that you take some in the am and the others in the PM. What do you experts know about it?

Glutathione
Well, you're absolutely right that those are all good for skin health, but I'm thinking what you ran into was an issue of too much skin support… I've run into that before. When I had the issue, I was taking 4 or 5 products for skin health because I have really dry skin and all of them together made my skin really healthy… but it got to be so much that it actually made my skin more oily and my skin was shedding (flaking off) with more frequency than it had before. I scaled it back to where I was only taking the few that worked well in combination for me and it's MUCH better now.
I'd say to go back to whichever one(s) you felt better with and stick with just those… it seems that all 4 of those together are just too much for you. Good luck and I hope I helped!

You can alternate when and which you take without any problem. I prefer to divide the supplements up. The oils I prefer in the morning. Vit C should be spread throughout the day, not just taken as a once daily dose since it is water soluble and your body will excrete what it can't immediately use.
As for the Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) - I will strongly caution you about this. ALA is a known mercury chelator, and most of us are truly mercury toxic. What the ALA does is bind the metal and move it through your body, hopefully to an exit. The problem is, too much ALA - a large dose over 1/4 mg per pound of body weight - will grab too much of the mercury. Then, if you don't take the ALA every 4 hours, that large amount of mercury will just dump wherever it happens to be at the 4 hour mark causing redistribution problems.
Another caution with ALA is that it shouldn't be taken if you have mercury exposure, such as from silver "amalgam" fillings. These fillings leak mercury for life, and should be removed before taking ALA. Taking ALA with Vit C is recommended to help with any redistribution symptoms and to help the mercury leave the body more effectively. Also, selenium (as selenimethionine -sp?) is recommended to take when taking ALA.
ALA has lots of good benefits, but it can also cause problems because it chelates and many who recommend it, recommend at infrequent high doses.
ALA - alpha lipoic acid is NOT the same as the ALA in cod liver oil Alpha Linolic (sp) Acid.
